Hector Martinez, Mecca CA

Hector like many of the Coachella Valley members was not born in the Coachella Valley, he immigrated from Mexico for several reasons. He ended up meeting his partner in the Coachella Valley and has now settled there. He is a father, uncle, friend, and one of the many agricultural workers that make up the small community of Mecca.

In the photo above, Hector is in his work clothes. This outfit requires important acknowledgement because it is what a lot of our community members wear on a daily biases(6 days a week, 8-12 hours a day) because of the conditions of their work.

It is now spring time in the Coachella Valley, for MANY around the world this means COACHELLA  aka bikini/pool/beer and out door festival weather, but for Coachella Valley natives that are agricultural workers like Hector it means 100+ degree weather, possible dehydration, sunstroke season.

Their work outfits not only have to keep them cool from the 100+ degree weather, but also protect them overall from being out in the sun doing back braking labor for long hours AND ALSO protect their skin from possible rashes that the pesticides the plants they work with are sprayed with.

But we gotta admit, Hectors outfit deserves an A+ on style! His boots that protect his feet from sand getting in match his hat that protect his face from being sunburned, and his long sleeve cotton shirt that keeps him cool and covered match his jeans perfectly. AND COMMON, the sunglasses...this guy is just a cool cat. :)

Thank you so much to Hector for letting us feature him in Eres Chingon because clearly he is!!

Spotted: North Shore, Friday Morning at the North Shore Beach and Yacht Club

These photos were taken at a weekly event that happens in the community of North Shore every Friday at the North Shore Beach and Yacht Club which is actually a community center. It's an event to help families in need of free groceries put on by Catholic Charities and my grandpa volunteers with them most fridays. He has built friendships with other volunteers despite some that are only english speaking. Over a hundred people show up to this for free caned goods, bread, frozen meat, veggies & fruit. My grandpa and others hand out the items in a line to people who hold tickets.

I got some photos of the styles I saw that day, except I didn't get the names of these people since I was just a bystander admiring my grandpa and his big heart that day. Anyways that is why this is just a "Spotted"post.

The men above represent a street style that I witness a lot in the Coachella Valley for working class men, its sorta laid back with the cap and all, yet there's still an element of amazing balance with the trousers and belt. My dad actually goes for this look quite often.

This man gave out the strawberries. His outfit is coordinated with neutral colors at the top and burgundy pants complementing his beige shoes at the bottom. A+!

Grandpa giving out canned goods in a bag. Noticed how his shirt totally compliments the apron that the charity makes volunteers wear, his fashion sense almost seems effortless sometimes.

Thanks for reading! Remember to send photos of your own to ERESCHINGONSTYLE@GMAIL.COM if you want to feature anyones style from the eastern Coachella Valley.

Marco Vinicio Galaviz Luna, Indio CA

Marco or "Marco tight pants" as he calls himself was a resident of the Coachella Valley town Indio.
He is now a film student at New York University in New York and is currently just home for the holidays in the Coachella Valley. Also he's very passionate about social justice and is an amazing over all contributor to the community here.

His style varies but it's as bright as he is! No one but him could pull off blue converse, mustard yellow velvet tight pants, a pink sweater and a rainbow scarf so smoothly.

His Coachella Valley Street Style rocks and we're happy to have had the chance to feature him on our blog as one of our community members.

Jose Maria, Mecca CA

Jose or as some might know him by the nickname "Chema" is a resident of the small Coachella valley town known as Mecca. Currently for work he keeps and watches out for a palm tree ranch, aside from that Chema is an inventor! He makes things out of other things as his past time, which is the coolest thing ever!

His style is way cute and must be recognized on here, he's another one of our valleys great culture contributes which we here at Eres Chingon Style are grateful for.

Thank you to my dearest friend Valeria for contributing to this site!

Jose De Jesus, Thermal CA

Jose or as some may know by "Don Chuy" is a father, grandfather and entrepreneur in the Coachella Valley, he resides in Thermal. He grows cactus (Nopales) in his ranch and sells them to local stores like Rancho Market. Don Chuy has mad style and we are honored to feature him on this blog cause he truly is chignon.

Ramon Melgoza, Mecca CA

This is a photo of my wonderful friend Angels dad that Angel contributed, He too obviously has awesome Coachella Valley Street style.

Salvador Sanchez, Mecca CA

The first photos on this blog are of the man who inspired it all, my grandfather. Mi abuelito.

To many in the Coachella Valley he is known as "Don Salvador" a respectful and well known man amongst the agricultural working community because for many years he was a field supervisor or as many say a "majordomo." He has since retired and often does volunteer work around the Mecca community.

Salvador always wears a sombrero or cap but takes it off upon instinct when he knows respect is owed. I've always noticed his Sombrero always comes off in church. His shirts always tucked in. Also notice how his shoes, belt & glasses case match. He always matches. Its perfect.
